| Getting to our Playa Negra home for rent by owner: To reach Playa Negra, Costa Rica from Liberia Airport (LIR) is just a matter of heading South towards Santa Cruz, & just before the town of Santa Cruz, heading West towards Paraiso. Playa Negra is 10 minutes past Paraiso. San Jose is a 4.5 hour drive. Although we recommend a rental car, we do have a trusted taxi driver that will pick you up from San Jose airport if you want to rest here around town without many day trips. Taxi van (space for boards) Round-trip from San Jose is approximately $300 ($150 each way). Taca, Spirit and numerous other airlines fly into Costa Rica. Tickets are usually less expensive into San Jose than into Liberia. Taxi's to and from the Tamarindo airport and town are available for approximately $70 round-trip. Sansa and Nature air (Costa Rican airlines) both fly several times daily from San Jose to Tamarindo in about an hour. More "travel in Costa Rica" information |
| The drive to Playa Negra House from Liberia is about 1.5 hours with the newly graded roads and additional paving completed in the last year. We do advise a rental car, but can also recommend a trusted taxi driver who will greet you in Liberia. $90. Delta, Continental, American Airlines and Frontier all fly into LIR airport. |

| Playa Junquillal is a graphite sand beach 15 minutes drive from our home. It has a great beach break similar to surfing the Outer Banks of NC in the US. It is also a wonderful beach for children to play on. |
| Playa Avellanas is another favorite family beach, a short 10 minute drive from our vacation rental in Guanacaste. Lola's Restaurant under the palms, overlooks multiple surf breaks, and stretches of white sand beaches with lots of seashells. |
| Playa Negra Surfing Break is walking 5-7 minutes south of our Playa Negra House for Rent. There is a sunbathing & swimming beach next to the reef break. The beach stretches for about 30 minutes walk to Playa Blanca. |
| Sandy Beach is perfect for swimming and learning to body board, paddle board or surf; just a minute walk from Playa Negra Surf Break. Enjoy meals, smoothies & drinks at the Playa Negra Hotel in front of the beach. |
